Man United Join Arsenal in Race for Victor Osimhen

Manchester United have joined Arsenal in the race to sign Super Eagles striker Victor Osimhen, with both Premier League clubs showing concrete interest in the Galatasaray forward before the summer transfer window closes.

United have reportedly contacted Galatasaray to enquire about the possibility of signing Osimhen, although the approach does not represent a formal bid and there is currently no indication that a transfer is close.

The development comes as new Manchester United manager Michael Carrick prepares his squad for the start of the 2026/27 Premier League campaign, with the Red Devils scheduled to begin their season away to Hull City on Saturday, August 22.

Arsenal are also understood to be pushing for the Nigerian striker and could be closer to making a formal move.

According to Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, an offer exceeding £60 million could be enough to persuade Galatasaray to part with Osimhen.

The Gunners reportedly made enquiries about the striker’s availability during separate discussions with Galatasaray over a potential transfer for Gabriel Martinelli.

However, any move for Osimhen would be negotiated independently of the Martinelli discussions.

The 27-year-old remains one of the most highly sought-after centre-forwards in European football following another productive campaign in Turkey.

Osimhen recorded 28 goal contributions in 33 appearances for Galatasaray last season, helping the club maintain its dominance domestically.

He has also started the new campaign impressively, scoring twice in Galatasaray’s Super Lig opener against Çorum FK.

United’s interest could now add another major contender to the increasingly competitive race for the striker, with Arsenal already monitoring his situation closely.

For Osimhen, a return to the Premier League would represent another major chapter in his career after previously attracting interest from several English clubs.

With the transfer deadline approaching, both Arsenal and Manchester United will have to move quickly if they are serious about securing the Nigerian international, while Galatasaray will be faced with the decision of whether to retain one of their most important attacking players or cash in on his growing market value.
