Leicester City have strengthened their squad with the signing of Wales international winger Wes Burns from Premier League side Ipswich Town on a three-year contract.
The transfer fee for the 31-year-old has not been disclosed.
Burns arrives at the King Power Stadium after an impressive spell at Ipswich, where he played a pivotal role in one of the club’s most successful periods in recent history.
Having joined the Tractor Boys in the summer of 2021, the winger helped Ipswich secure promotion to the Championship in his second season, making 50 appearances across all competitions.
He was equally influential the following campaign, scoring six goals in 35 league matches as Ipswich achieved a remarkable second successive promotion to reach the Premier League.
Burns featured 18 times in England’s top flight before suffering a serious anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) injury during a match against Liverpool in January 2025.
After spending 11 months on the sidelines, the Welshman made a successful return to action and marked his comeback with a goal in Ipswich’s crucial 2-0 victory over Coventry City, a result that played a significant role in the club’s immediate return to the Premier League.
The experienced winger becomes Leicester City’s sixth signing of the summer transfer window as new manager Russell Martin continues to reshape his squad ahead of the new campaign.
Burns joins fellow new arrivals, including Sunderland loanee Tommy Watson and Wales teammate Liam Cullen, as the Foxes look to build a team capable of challenging for promotion.
Speaking after completing the move, Burns expressed his excitement about the project at Leicester.
“Having spoken to the manager and various people I know here, there’s a massive ambition to get the club back to where it once was, so I’m excited about the project,” he told the club’s official website.
Leicester will hope Burns’ experience, pace and creativity can add another dimension to their attack as they target a successful season under Martin’s leadership.
