Aston Villa Women have completed the signing of goalkeeper Emily Ramsey on a free transfer following the expiration of her contract with Everton.

The 25-year-old joins Villa after spending four years on Merseyside, having initially arrived on loan in 2022 before making the move permanent.

Speaking after completing the transfer, Ramsey said she was eager to begin a new chapter in her career.

“It felt like the right time for a new challenge,” she said.

“I’m excited to play at Villa Park, get to know the players and see what we can achieve together this season.”

Ramsey brings valuable Women’s Super League experience to the Midlands. Before joining Everton, she spent five years at Manchester United, making six senior appearances while also gaining experience through loan spells at Sheffield United, West Ham United and Birmingham City.

At international level, Ramsey has represented England across several youth age groups up to the Under-23s and earned her first senior call-up in 2023.

Aston Villa’s Director of Women’s Football, Marisa Ewers, welcomed the goalkeeper to the club, praising both her experience and ambition.

“Emily is a goalkeeper with strong experience in the WSL and a real desire to continue developing her game,” Ewers said.

“She has arrived at Villa eager to challenge herself and contribute to the group.”

Ramsey becomes Villa’s latest addition as the club continues to strengthen its squad ahead of the new Women’s Super League season.
