Tottenham Hotspur is in advanced negotiations with Roberto De Zerbi, with the Italian now open to taking charge immediately as the club looks to stabilize a struggling season.
Sources indicate that discussions have been positive and are progressing toward a final agreement, with Spurs prepared to offer the 46-year-old a long-term contract. De Zerbi, who previously managed Brighton & Hove Albion, has been without a club since leaving Olympique de Marseille in February.
Tottenham’s urgency comes amid a difficult campaign, with the club sitting 17th in the Premier League, just one point above the relegation zone and still searching for their first league win of 2026.
The managerial vacancy follows the departure of interim head coach Igor Tudor, who left by mutual consent after 44 days in charge. Club executives, including CEO Vinai Venkatesham and sporting director Johan Lange, are leading the search for a permanent replacement.
Tudor’s exit came after a heavy 3–0 defeat to Nottingham Forest, although the club delayed their decision to allow him time following a personal bereavement.
However, De Zerbi’s potential appointment has sparked mixed reactions among supporters. Some fan groups have raised concerns over his past comments in support of Mason Greenwood during their time together at Marseille.
Despite the controversy, Tottenham appear focused on finalizing a deal quickly as they aim to turn around their season and avoid relegation.
