Tottenham Hotspur’s search for attacking reinforcements has taken another intriguing turn, but could Manchester City winger Savinho be the marquee signing that transforms their squad ahead of the new season?
According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Spurs have been in discussions with Manchester City for several weeks over a potential deal for the 22-year-old Brazilian, who has emerged as one of the club’s top transfer targets.
The North London side have reportedly revived their interest after missing out on Savinho last summer. However, any move is expected to depend on City securing a suitable replacement before allowing the winger to leave.
Despite enjoying limited opportunities last season, Savinho impressed whenever called upon, registering four goals and three assists in 36 appearances across all competitions.
Meanwhile, Manchester City could also face interest in another attacking star. Italian outlet Tuttosport reports that AC Milan are monitoring England international Phil Foden, with the Serie A club prepared to make a move if they succeed in selling Rafael Leão. City are believed to value the 26-year-old at between €50 million and €60 million, although formal negotiations have yet to begin.
Elsewhere, Sunderland have joined Borussia Dortmund and Juventus in the race to sign Monaco striker Folarin Balogun. The United States international boosted his stock with an impressive FIFA World Cup campaign, scoring three goals in four matches, and is widely expected to leave the French club before the transfer window closes. Juventus are currently considered favourites to secure his signature.
In another developing transfer story, Chelsea will reportedly have to pay £55 million to prise French defender Maxence Lacroix away from Crystal Palace. The two clubs have already held formal talks, with the 26-year-old believed to be open to a move to Stamford Bridge despite Palace’s determination to keep him.
Meanwhile, newly appointed Fulham head coach Álvaro Arbeloa has reportedly instructed the club to explore a deal for Real Madrid midfielder César Palacios. The Cottagers have also made enquiries about Madrid youngsters Gonzalo García and Franco Mastantuono as Arbeloa looks to strengthen his squad ahead of the new campaign.
With the transfer window still open, Savinho’s future is set to remain one of the most closely watched stories, as Tottenham continue their pursuit of a player they believe could provide the attacking spark needed for the season ahead.
