Victor Osimhen Injury Blow: Galatasaray Star Set to Miss Champions League Opener

Victor Osimhen is facing a spell on the sidelines after suffering an injury in Galatasaray’s 3-2 victory over Istanbul Başakşehir.

The Nigeria international was forced off in the 33rd minute after complaining of right groin pain, raising immediate concerns about his availability for Galatasaray’s upcoming fixtures.

Medical examinations reportedly revealed an injury to the right adductor muscle group, with the striker now undergoing treatment.

Osimhen’s condition is particularly concerning for Galatasaray as the club prepares for its Champions League campaign. The striker is considered a major doubt for their opening European fixture against Sporting CP.

Reports suggest Osimhen could be sidelined for around two to three weeks, potentially ruling him out of several matches depending on his recovery.

The 27-year-old has been one of Galatasaray’s most important players since completing his permanent move to the Turkish champions, and his absence would represent a significant attacking blow.

Osimhen is reportedly keen to return as quickly as possible but is unlikely to be rushed back if there is a risk of aggravating the injury.

Galatasaray will now closely monitor his recovery before making a final decision on when he can return to competitive action.

The injury also comes at an important stage of the season, with Galatasaray facing a demanding domestic and European schedule.

For now, the priority will be ensuring Osimhen makes a full recovery, with the club expected to provide another update on his condition as he progresses through rehabilitation.
