Phil Foden delivered a standout performance as Manchester City defeated AEK Athens 5–1, recording a hat-trick in a commanding Champions League victory.
Elliot Anderson opened the scoring after Enzo Fernández’s early free-kick struck the crossbar. Foden doubled City’s lead before half-time following a combination with Rico Lewis.
AEK reduced the deficit through Stavros Pilios, briefly raising hopes of a comeback. City responded emphatically, however, as Rayan Cherki scored with a skilful turn and finish before Foden added two more goals to complete his hat-trick.
Foden was named Player of the Match, while Erling Haaland remained on the bench as City managed the game without relying on their leading striker.
