Manchester United have reportedly decided against pursuing a move for former Bayern Munich and Real Madrid defender David Alaba.
The 34-year-old Austria international has been without a club since leaving Real Madrid in July after the Spanish giants opted not to extend his contract.
Alaba, who can operate at centre-back, left-back and in midfield, is now considering his next move, with Italian side Lazio among the clubs recently linked with his services.
However, a move to Manchester United now appears to be off the table, despite previous speculation connecting the experienced defender with a switch to Old Trafford.
The former Bayern Munich star enjoyed a highly decorated spell in Germany before moving to Real Madrid, winning multiple Bundesliga titles and the Champions League during his career.
At Madrid, Alaba continued to add to his trophy collection, although injuries have increasingly limited his involvement in recent seasons.
With United reportedly no longer considering a move for the veteran defender, Alaba’s next destination remains uncertain as he looks for a new club.
For now, Lazio could emerge as one of the leading options, but the experienced defender has yet to make a final decision on his future.
