Barcelona are reportedly considering a move for Arsenal striker Viktor Gyokeres as they search for an alternative to their pursuit of Atletico Madrid forward Julian Alvarez.

Despite the growing speculation, Arsenal are not currently planning to sell Gyokeres, according to reports. The Gunners remain focused on strengthening their attack and have been linked with both Galatasaray’s Victor Osimhen and Alvarez.

Arsenal’s interest in Osimhen has reportedly featured in discussions with Galatasaray, while the club are also continuing to monitor Alvarez’s situation at Atletico Madrid.

Barcelona, meanwhile, have encountered difficulties in their pursuit of Alvarez, with Atletico resisting approaches for the Argentina international. Reports now indicate that the Catalan giants have identified Gyokeres as a possible alternative.

Gyokeres joined Arsenal from Sporting CP last summer and scored 21 goals in all competitions during his debut campaign. However, his first season in England was considered below expectations compared with his prolific record in Portugal.

Barcelona have reportedly yet to make formal contact with Arsenal or the striker’s representatives, but are expected to explore the possibility of a deal.

For Arsenal, the situation is particularly interesting because the club are simultaneously looking at adding another high-profile striker. Recent reports suggest that the Gunners are pursuing Osimhen while Arteta has also personally contacted Alvarez in an attempt to convince him to move to north London.

However, Arsenal’s current position appears to be that Gyokeres remains part of their plans, meaning Barcelona would likely have to make a significant proposal to change that stance.

With the transfer window approaching its final weeks, the question is whether Barcelona will turn their interest into a formal approach — and whether Arsenal would even consider allowing their £60m-plus striker to leave after just one season.
