Chelsea Squad Swells to 35 as Neto, Welbeck and Mudryk Join Hong Kong Tour Ahead of Juventus Clash

Chelsea have arrived in Hong Kong for the second leg of their pre-season tour with an expanded 35-man squad following the arrival of six additional players.

Among the latest arrivals is Portugal winger Pedro Neto, while new signings Danny Welbeck and Geovany Quenda have also linked up with the squad as preparations continue for the new season.

Ukraine international Mykhailo Mudryk has also rejoined the Blues after being reinstated following his lengthy suspension, providing Chelsea with another attacking option ahead of the upcoming campaign.

Chelsea’s goalkeeping department has also received a boost, with Mike Penders and Gaga Slonina joining the squad. The pair will provide cover for youngster Teddy Sharman-Lowe, who has been leading the goalkeeping group while first-choice goalkeeper Robert Sánchez recovers from a minor injury.

Penders is expected to serve as Sánchez’s deputy this season and could be handed valuable minutes during the remainder of the pre-season schedule.

Slonina, meanwhile, returns after an unsuccessful spell seeking a move to Strasbourg, where Filip Jörgensen is instead expected to continue his career.

Despite the strengthened squad, Chelsea are expected to trim their numbers in the coming weeks as head coach Enzo Maresca shapes his squad for the new Premier League season.

Further reinforcements are still to arrive, with captain Reece James, midfielder Enzo Fernández and experienced signing Jordan Henderson all expected to join the group soon.

Chelsea’s next pre-season test comes on Wednesday when they take on Italian giants Juventus as Maresca continues to fine-tune his squad ahead of the new campaign.
