Bayern Munich continued their impressive pre-season preparations with a 2-1 victory over Aston Villa in an entertaining friendly at Kai Tak Sports Park on Friday.

The German champions overcame Unai Emery’s side in a competitive contest that served as another important test for both clubs ahead of the new campaign.

Bayern took control with two well-worked goals before Aston Villa pulled one back late on through Gomes, but the Premier League side could not find an equaliser as Vincent Kompany’s men held on for the win.

The match formed part of Bayern’s pre-season schedule in Asia and gave Kompany another opportunity to assess his squad against high-quality opposition before the Bundesliga season begins.

For Aston Villa, the defeat brought an end to their Far East tour, with Emery using the fixture to continue building match fitness and evaluate his players ahead of another demanding campaign.

Despite the result, Villa showed encouraging spells throughout the contest and created several opportunities, but Bayern’s clinical finishing proved decisive.

The victory also provides Bayern with valuable momentum as preparations intensify for the start of the 2026/27 season, while Aston Villa will now turn their attention to their remaining pre-season commitments before competitive football resumes.
