CAF Postpones 2026 Women’s AFCON to July–August

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially announced the postponement of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations following weeks of speculation.

The tournament, initially scheduled to take place from 17 March to 3 April 2026 in Morocco, has now been moved to 25 July to 16 August 2026.

CAF confirmed that the decision was reached after consultations with FIFA and other key stakeholders.

In a statement released on Thursday, the governing body said the postponement was necessary “to ensure the success of this important women’s competition” in light of “unforeseen circumstances.”

Despite the delay, CAF reassured fans and participating nations that preparations are ongoing, expressing confidence that the tournament will be successfully delivered.

There was no indication of any change to the host nation, with Morocco still set to stage the competition.
