Tottenham Hotspur FC have confirmed the signing of experienced left-back Andy Robertson following his departure from Liverpool FC this summer.
The 32-year-old joins Spurs on a free transfer, bringing a wealth of top-level experience and a winning pedigree to North London.
Robertson enjoyed a hugely successful eight-year spell at Liverpool after arriving from Hull City AFC in 2017. During his time at Anfield, the Scotland captain established himself as one of the Premier League’s finest full-backs and played a key role in one of the club’s most successful modern eras.
Among his achievements with Liverpool were Premier League titles in the 2019/20 and 2024/25 seasons, as well as UEFA Champions League triumphs in 2018/19 and 2021/22. His relentless energy, attacking quality and leadership made him a fan favourite and a vital figure in the Reds’ success.
Robertson had previously attracted interest from Atlético Madrid, with the Spanish giants reportedly keen on signing him last summer, although a move never materialised.
Now, the veteran defender begins a new chapter with Tottenham as the club looks to rebuild and strengthen following a difficult campaign. Spurs narrowly avoided relegation from the Premier League last season, securing their top-flight status on the final day by just two points.
The arrival of Robertson is expected to add experience, leadership and defensive stability to a squad aiming to move away from the struggles of last season and re-establish itself among England’s leading clubs.
For Tottenham supporters, the signing represents a major statement of intent, with one of the Premier League’s most decorated defenders now set to wear the famous white shirt.
