Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly preparing to join the race for Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen, despite Galatasaray’s determination to keep hold of their star forward.

After establishing themselves as one of Europe’s biggest spenders this summer, Spurs are now said to have identified the Super Eagles striker as the final piece in their attacking rebuild.

The North London club have already invested more than £230 million on new signings during the transfer window, bringing in the likes of Sandro Tonali, Matheus Fernandes, and Jan Paul van Hecke. However, club chiefs are keen to strengthen their frontline further before the transfer deadline.

According to reports from CaughtOffside, Tottenham are prepared to table an offer worth £65 million for Osimhen.

However, convincing Galatasaray to sell is expected to be a major challenge. The Turkish champions regard the 27-year-old as one of the cornerstones of their project after signing him for around €75 million (£65 million), and he remains under contract until 2029.

Osimhen has continued to enhance his reputation as one of Europe’s most prolific strikers, with his pace, aerial ability and clinical finishing making him a target for several elite clubs in recent transfer windows.

A number of Europe’s heavyweights have previously explored moves for the Nigerian international but failed to prise him away, leaving Tottenham facing an uphill battle if they hope to secure one of the biggest signings of the summer.

Whether Spurs’ reported £65 million valuation will be enough remains uncertain, with Galatasaray under little pressure to sell their prized asset and expected to demand a significantly higher fee should negotiations begin.
