Former Albania boss Sylvinho has reflected on his time with the national team, praised Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal rebuild, and revealed that Europe is his top choice for his next job.
The Brazilian left Albania in May 2026 after three and a half years, helping the team qualify for Euro 2024 and reach the 2026 World Cup play-offs.

A Special Albania Journey
Sylvinho credited teamwork, trust and tactical discipline for Albania’s progress. He also praised the players, staff and federation president Armando Duka.
Despite not speaking the language when he arrived, he built strong relationships within the team. His departure, he said, was a mutual decision after a successful partnership had run its course.
Arsenal Earns His Praise
Sylvinho also applauded Arteta’s work at Arsenal, highlighting the patience needed to build a winning team.
He pointed to Arsenal’s clear philosophy, strong leadership and steady progress as proof that managers need time to make their mark. The club even served as a tactical reference for his Albania staff.
Europe Is Calling
Now 52, Sylvinho feels ready for his next challenge. While he is open to opportunities worldwide, Europe is his preferred destination.
He wants a club with a clear plan, ambition, and the tools to succeed. For now, he is happy to wait for the right offer—no panic, just good timing.
