Sporting CP have been tipped to overcome Galatasaray when the two sides meet in the Champions League on Wednesday night.

The Portuguese side are priced at 1.82 to win the match at the Estádio José Alvalade, with Rui Borges’ team backed to make home advantage count against the Turkish champions.

Sporting have made an impressive start to the new Primeira Liga campaign, collecting 13 points from their opening five matches after recording four wins and one draw.

They also head into the European clash on the back of a convincing 2-0 home victory over Nacional. Sporting dominated possession with 67 per cent and registered eight shots on target, with Luis Suárez and Flávio Gonçalves finding the net.

Galatasaray have also enjoyed a strong start domestically, winning three and drawing one of their opening four Super Lig fixtures.

Okan Buruk’s side secured a 3-2 away victory over Istanbul Basaksehir in their most recent outing, with Victor Osimhen, Lucas Torreira and Gabriel Sara all getting on the scoresheet.

Galatasaray controlled 52 per cent of possession in the encounter and registered six shots on target.

However, Sporting’s home record and early-season form have made them the preferred selection for the full-time result market.

Sporting backed to edge Galatasaray

The Portuguese champions are expected to face a difficult test against a Galatasaray side boasting considerable attacking quality, particularly with Osimhen leading the line.

Nevertheless, Sporting’s consistency at home and their impressive start to the domestic campaign provide reasons for optimism ahead of Wednesday’s meeting.

With both teams arriving in good form, the fixture could develop into an entertaining contest, but Sporting are being backed to secure the three points in Lisbon.
