Real Madrid CF have firmly dismissed speculation linking the club with a move for Enzo Fernández, insisting they have held no discussions over signing the midfielder and have no plans to pursue a transfer.
In a strongly worded statement released on Thursday, the Spanish giants categorically denied reports suggesting they were attempting to lure the Chelsea star to the Santiago Bernabéu.
“In light of the reports and statements that have appeared in recent days regarding Real Madrid C.F.’s alleged interest in the player Enzo Fernández, the club wishes to state that it has not made any efforts, either directly or indirectly, to sign the aforementioned player and has no intention of undertaking such a transfer,” the statement read.
Madrid also took the opportunity to praise the Argentine international while stressing that their relationship with Chelsea FC remains strong.
The club described Fernández as “a great footballer whose career and quality are widely recognized” and emphasised its “excellent institutional relationship” with Chelsea.
Real Madrid added that their long-standing commitment to institutional loyalty made it necessary to publicly address what they described as inaccurate reports.
“Precisely out of respect for an institution like Chelsea FC and due to the principles of institutional loyalty that have always guided Real Madrid’s actions, the club considers it necessary to categorically deny these unfounded speculations, which are completely untrue.”
The Spanish champions concluded by expressing disappointment that transfer rumours continued to circulate despite what they described as the complete absence of any contact regarding the player.
“Real Madrid regrets that, despite the clarity of the facts and the lack of any action on the part of the club, information continues to be disseminated that does not correspond to reality and that only contributes to generating confusion among fans and unnecessarily harming the entities and people involved.”
The statement effectively ends speculation that had linked Fernández with a high-profile move to Madrid, leaving the Argentine midfielder’s future at Chelsea unchanged for now.
