Marcus Rashford Withdraws From England Squad After Fresh Injury Blow At Man Utd

Manchester United forward ruled out of England’s Nations League fixtures after picking up an injury in Fulham draw

Marcus Rashford has withdrawn from England’s squad after suffering an injury during Manchester United’s 1-1 draw with Fulham, adding to the growing fitness concerns surrounding Thomas Tuchel’s squad.

The Manchester United forward was substituted in the 77th minute at Craven Cottage on Sunday after appearing to experience discomfort around his hip and groin area.

United manager Michael Carrick revealed after the match that Rashford had to be taken off because he had “a bit of an issue”, with the forward subsequently assessed ahead of England’s upcoming Nations League campaign.

The Football Association confirmed on Monday that Rashford will not join up with Tuchel’s squad, with the 28-year-old joining Kobbie Mainoo, Cole Palmer, Declan Rice and Tino Livramento in withdrawing from international duty because of injury concerns.

Rashford has reportedly been managing a hip problem since the summer World Cup, making the latest setback another concern for both Manchester United and England.

His withdrawal is particularly notable because Tuchel has continued to back the forward when available. Rashford was included in England’s World Cup squad and featured during the tournament, although his involvement became limited as the competition progressed.

The timing of the injury also comes as Rashford attempts to establish himself again at Manchester United following a difficult period in his career.

He has returned to regular first-team involvement under Carrick, but his form and role remain under scrutiny, with his latest injury now forcing him to miss an opportunity to continue making his case to Tuchel during the international break.

England have responded to the withdrawals by calling up Everton midfielder James Garner and Nottingham Forest midfielder Morgan Gibbs-White.

Tuchel’s side will begin their Nations League campaign against world champions Spain at Wembley on September 26 before travelling to face Czechia and Croatia.

England will then host Czechia again on October 6 as part of the extended international window.

For Rashford, the immediate priority will now be recovering from the latest injury and returning to Manchester United action, with the club expected to monitor his condition closely during the international break.

This version makes the “Rashford trending” angle clear without overstating unconfirmed details about the severity of his injury.
