Manchester City have reportedly reached an agreement with Chelsea full-back Malo Gusto over a potential move to the Etihad Stadium as the Premier League champions continue their squad rebuild under new manager Enzo Maresca.

The 23-year-old French defender has emerged as one of City’s primary targets at right-back, with Maresca keen to strengthen the position ahead of his first season in charge following Pep Guardiola’s departure.

Maresca’s appointment has inevitably linked City with several Chelsea players, given the Italian’s previous spell at Stamford Bridge. While Chelsea captain Enzo Fernandez has also been mentioned as a possible target, reports suggest the Argentine midfielder is currently attracting stronger interest from Real Madrid.

Gusto, however, appears to be a more realistic option for City.

The French international has developed into one of Chelsea’s most consistent performers since arriving from Lyon, establishing himself as a reliable presence on the right side of defence over the past three seasons. His attacking ability, pace and versatility have made him one of the club’s standout defenders.

Chelsea could be open to offers as they seek to balance their finances after missing out on European qualification. Selling one of their valuable assets could help generate funds for further squad restructuring.

However, no official agreement has yet been announced between the two clubs, and negotiations would still be required before any deal can be completed.

Should the move materialise, Gusto would become one of Maresca’s first major signings at Manchester City and would add further competition and depth to the club’s defensive options ahead of the new campaign.
