Newcastle United head coach Matthias Jaissle has made several changes to his starting XI as he continues to assess his squad ahead of the new season.
Joelinton is one of the notable inclusions, with the Brazilian handed the captain’s armband after Malick Thiaw wore it during Newcastle’s previous pre-season fixture against Valencia.
Lewis Hall also returns to the starting lineup, while Yoane Wissa has been rewarded for his impressive display in Spain, where he scored twice at Mestalla.
Anthony Elanga also starts despite being stretchered off during the Valencia game. The winger has recovered sufficiently to feature in the latest pre-season test.
Lukáš Horníček retains his place in goal, with Hall, Thiaw, Sven Botman and Leo Shahar completing the defensive unit.
Joelinton partners Aladji Bamba in midfield, while Elanga and Bazoumana Touré are deployed on the flanks.
Wissa and William Osula lead the attack as Jaissle continues to experiment with his options and assess the squad.
Newcastle have named a strong bench, with Harvey Barnes, Jacob Murphy, Nick Woltemade, Joe Willock and Jacob Ramsey among the substitutes available to Jaissle.
