Manchester City have agreed a deal worth up to £34.2 million to sign Brazilian winger Allan Elias from Palmeiras, as Pep Guardiola’s side move quickly to strengthen their attack ahead of the transfer deadline.

City are set to pay an initial £32 million, with a further £2.2 million available in add-ons. The 22-year-old is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days before completing his move to the Etihad Stadium.

Elias’ arrival is being viewed as a replacement for compatriot Savinho, who is set to leave Manchester City for Tottenham after struggling for regular Premier League starts last season.

Savinho’s departure would create an opening in City’s wide attacking options, and the club appears keen to fill the position immediately with another young Brazilian talent.

The transfer could form part of a busy final period for City, who are also in advanced negotiations with Tottenham over the sale of Egypt international Omar Marmoush.

Sources familiar with the situation believe there is a strong possibility that Marmoush will complete his move to north London before the September 1 transfer deadline, although discussions remain ongoing and some details are yet to be resolved.

City could also see further movement in midfield, with Nico Gonzalez attracting strong interest from Newcastle United.

With Savinho potentially departing, Marmoush close to an exit, and Gonzalez also facing an uncertain future, City’s transfer strategy appears to involve significant reshaping of the squad before the window closes.
