Former Super Eagles striker Emmanuel Emenike has criticised the state of governance in Nigeria, accusing some state governors of prioritising personal interests over the development and welfare of their people.

Emenike expressed his frustration in a post on Instagram on Wednesday, October 14, questioning the commitment of some political leaders to improving the country’s future amid persistent economic challenges facing ordinary Nigerians.

The former international footballer alleged that some governors lacked clear development plans and were more concerned about diverting public resources for personal benefit than delivering meaningful progress in their states.

He also questioned the continued support political office holders receive from security personnel despite the economic difficulties experienced by many Nigerians.

In his strongly worded remarks, Emenike expressed disappointment over what he described as the mismanagement of public funds, raising concerns about accountability and the priorities of those entrusted with public office.

Although the former striker’s comments focused on some governors, his criticism reflects broader concerns about public accountability, the use of government resources and the responsibility of political leaders to improve living conditions for citizens.

Emenike, who represented Nigeria at the international level, has now added his voice to ongoing public conversations about leadership and governance in the country.

However, the allegations contained in his post were not accompanied by specific evidence or details identifying the governors he was referring to.
