Doncaster Rovers have strengthened their squad with the signing of goalkeeper Josh Clarke from Scottish Championship side Partick Thistle on a loan deal that will become permanent in January.

The League One club confirmed that the 21-year-old Northern Ireland Under-21 international will complete a permanent transfer for an undisclosed fee at the start of the new year, when he is expected to sign a long-term contract.

Clarke arrives after an impressive spell with Partick Thistle, where he established himself as one of the standout goalkeepers in the Scottish Championship.

The young shot-stopper initially joined the Jags on loan from Celtic F.C. last summer before completing a permanent move in February.

During his time at Firhill, Clarke made 42 appearances across all competitions and recorded 14 clean sheets, earning praise for his consistency, commanding presence and shot-stopping ability.

His performances attracted interest from several clubs, with Doncaster moving quickly to secure his services ahead of the new League One campaign.

The deal provides Doncaster with immediate competition in the goalkeeping department while allowing the club to secure Clarke’s long-term future when the transfer becomes permanent in January.

For Clarke, the move represents another important step in his development as he looks to continue his progression in English football while maintaining his place in the Northern Ireland Under-21 setup.
