Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazilian winger Savinho from Manchester City for an initial £75 million, with the deal potentially rising by a further £10 million in add-ons.

The 22-year-old has signed a long-term contract with Spurs, ending a move that had been more than 12 months in the making after Tottenham previously attempted to sign him last summer.

Savinho opted to remain at Manchester City at the time but struggled for regular Premier League football last season, making only seven league starts under Pep Guardiola.

The Brazil international has now chosen a new challenge in north London, where he will work under manager Roberto De Zerbi.

Speaking after completing the move, Savinho expressed his excitement at joining Tottenham and revealed that his conversation with De Zerbi played an important role in his decision.

“As soon as I spoke to the head coach, I knew I had to come,” Savinho said, adding that the manager had told him he wanted to help him reach the highest level.

Savinho joined Manchester City from French club Troyes for £30.8 million in 2024 and made 84 appearances for the club, scoring seven goals and providing 16 assists.

De Zerbi believes the winger’s qualities make him an ideal addition to his Tottenham squad.

“Savio is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions,” the Spurs manager said.

The signing represents another major investment from Tottenham, who have spent around £312 million on new players this summer, including Mateus Fernandes, Sandro Tonali and Jan Paul van Hecke.

The club has also added Marcos Senesi, Andrew Robertson and Martin Dubravka on free transfers.

Tottenham’s spending could increase further, with Manchester City forward Omar Marmoush reportedly also in advanced talks over a potential move to north London before the September 1 transfer deadline.

For Savinho, the move represents an opportunity to finally secure the regular playing time he struggled to find at Manchester City.
