Arsenal have reportedly made an approach to sign promising Emmanuel Mbemba from Paris Saint-Germain on a free transfer this summer.

The 18-year-old defender is nearing the end of his current contract with PSG and, despite being offered a new deal by the French champions, is understood to be considering a move to the Premier League.

Arsenal have already outlined their development plan for the France youth international, highlighting the successful pathway followed by William Saliba, who developed through loan spells before becoming a key figure in the Gunners’ first team.

According to reports, Mbemba has been impressed by Arsenal’s long-term project under manager Mikel Arteta and is attracted by the club’s stability and recent success.

Although primarily deployed as a centre-back throughout his time in PSG’s academy, Arsenal reportedly view Mbemba as a long-term option at left-back, believing his athleticism and technical qualities make him well-suited to the role.

As part of the proposed plan, the teenager could be sent on loan to a European club until January 2027, allowing him to gain valuable senior experience while meeting the requirements needed to secure a work permit for English football.

Training compensation for the move is expected to be just over £150,000 should the transfer go ahead after the expiration of his contract at the end of June.

Mbemba arrives with an impressive youth pedigree, having recently captained PSG’s Under-19 side to victory in the French Youth Cup at the Stade de France. His leadership qualities and performances at youth level have earned him recognition as one of the club’s most promising defensive prospects.

Should Arsenal complete the deal, it would represent another investment in young talent as Arteta’s side continue to build for both the present and the future.
