Nigerian internationals Victor Osimhen and Ademola Lookman are set for another week of UEFA Champions League action as their clubs continue their campaigns in Europe’s premier club competition.
Lookman’s Atlético Madrid are scheduled to face Stuttgart in Germany on Tuesday, with the Nigerian forward hoping to build on his recent contributions for the Spanish side.
Atlético have enjoyed a strong run since their opening Champions League defeat to Liverpool, winning six consecutive matches across competitions, including a 2-0 victory over Manchester United in which Lookman scored.
Stuttgart, however, will pose a serious challenge after winning their opening two league-phase matches. The German side will also be eager to recover from their recent domestic defeat to Hamburg.
Osimhen is expected to attract attention when Galatasaray return to Champions League action on Wednesday. The striker played the full match in his side’s 4-1 defeat to Barcelona on October 13 and will be looking to help the Turkish champions respond.
Meanwhile, Nigerian forward Moses Usor remains a doubt for LASK, adding uncertainty to the country’s representation in this round of European fixtures.
The performances of Osimhen and Lookman will be closely followed by Nigerian supporters hoping to see the country’s leading players make an impact on the continental stage.
