Former Liverpool star convicted in absentia after failing to identify driver of £400,000 Rolls-Royce
Mohamed Salah has been handed a six-month driving ban after his Rolls-Royce was caught speeding in Cheshire earlier this year.
The former Liverpool forward was convicted in absentia at Warrington Combined Court after failing to tell authorities who was driving his luxury electric Rolls-Royce Spectre when it was recorded travelling above the speed limit.
Court documents showed that the vehicle was clocked at 36mph in a 30mph zone in Wilmslow, Cheshire, on March 27, 2026.
Salah, who is now playing for Turkish side Trabzonspor, failed to respond to a notice of prosecution issued by Cheshire Constabulary and did not enter a plea.
However, the Egyptian was not convicted of the speeding charge itself. Instead, the speeding offence was withdrawn and he was convicted for failing to provide information relating to the identification of the driver.
The case was handled under the Single Justice Procedure, meaning the matter was dealt with by magistrates without Salah being present in court.
The 34-year-old was subsequently banned from driving for six months and ordered to pay a total of £1,044.
The incident occurred just days after Salah announced that he would leave Liverpool at the end of the 2025/26 season, bringing his nine-year spell at Anfield to an end.
Salah scored 257 goals in 442 appearances for Liverpool, winning two Premier League titles and the Champions League during his time with the club. He later moved to Trabzonspor following the conclusion of last season.
The latest case is not Salah’s first driving offence.
In 2022, he was fined and given three penalty points after his Ferrari F8 Tributo was caught travelling at 63mph in a 50mph zone in Stockport.
He was also filmed apparently using a mobile phone while driving near Liverpool’s Anfield stadium in 2018, although he was not prosecuted after police concluded there was insufficient evidence.
Despite the legal setback, Salah has made an impressive start to life in Turkey, with The Independent reporting that he had scored seven goals in six league appearances for Trabzonspor by the time of its latest report
