Former Liverpool defender Trent Alexander-Arnold has reignited speculation about a possible return to Anfield after revealing that he continues to watch the Reds “every game.”

Alexander-Arnold, who left Liverpool for Real Madrid in 2025 after nearly two decades with the club, remains closely connected to his boyhood side despite beginning a new chapter in Spain.

Speaking about Liverpool, the England international said: “I still watch every game. I support them.”

The admission has inevitably sparked fresh discussion among Liverpool supporters, particularly given the defender’s strong emotional ties to the club.

Alexander-Arnold came through Liverpool’s academy and made more than 300 appearances for the senior side, winning the Premier League, Champions League, FA Cup and League Cup during his time at Anfield.

His departure for Real Madrid was controversial, with sections of the Liverpool support unhappy with his decision to leave. However, his latest comments suggest that his connection with the club has remained intact.

The 27-year-old’s future at Real Madrid could also become a talking point if his situation in Spain remains uncertain. Competition for the right-back position has included Dani Carvajal and Federico Valverde, while Alexander-Arnold has faced periods out of the starting XI.

For now, there is no indication that Alexander-Arnold is actively seeking a Liverpool return. His comments simply underline the continued affection he has for his boyhood club.

Nevertheless, with Liverpool supporters still fond of their academy graduate, his claim that he watches the team “every game” is likely to keep the door open to plenty of speculation about a potential return to Anfield in the future.
