Manchester United Agree Double Goalkeeper Exit as Michael Carrick Continues Squad Overhaul

Manchester United have agreed a double transfer deal involving goalkeepers Altay Bayindir and Radek Vitek as manager Michael Carrick continues to reshape his squad ahead of the new season.

The Red Devils have been active in the transfer market this summer, strengthening key areas while also reducing the size of the squad following a number of departures.

United bolstered their midfield with the signing of Andrey Santos from Chelsea before activating the £35 million release clause in Youri Tielemans’ Aston Villa contract to bring the Belgian international to Old Trafford.

Several senior players have also left the club, with striker Rasmus Hojlund completing a permanent move to Napoli after a successful loan spell, while Casemiro, Tyrell Malacia and Jadon Sancho all departed following the expiration of their contracts.

Now, two more exits have been agreed as Bayindir and Vitek prepare to leave Old Trafford.

Turkey international Bayindir has struggled for regular first-team opportunities since joining Manchester United and has now been allowed to join Spanish side Celta Vigo on a season-long loan.

According to reports, the La Liga club will have the option to make the transfer permanent for around £3.5 million at the end of the campaign.

Highly-rated Czech goalkeeper Radek Vitek is also set to move on after Manchester United agreed a deal with Championship side Middlesbrough worth up to £14 million.

Boro will reportedly pay an initial £7 million, with performance-related add-ons potentially doubling the fee.

The 22-year-old impressed during a loan spell at Bristol City last season, attracting interest from several clubs before Middlesbrough secured his signature.

Manchester United have protected their long-term interests by including a 35 per cent sell-on clause, matching rights on any future offers and a buy-back option in the agreement, ensuring the club retains significant control over the goalkeeper’s future.

The double departure forms part of Carrick’s wider rebuilding project as he looks to assemble a squad capable of challenging for major honours in the 2026/27 season.
