Barcelona have reportedly made a surprise move to sign Borussia Dortmund winger Karim Adeyemi, with the Catalan giants said to have submitted an official offer and opened negotiations with the Bundesliga club.
According to reports from Gerard Romero of Jijantes and transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Barcelona have already begun talks with Borussia Dortmund after securing the signing of Anthony Gordon, as manager Hansi Flick continues his squad rebuild ahead of the new season.
Adeyemi is understood to have given his approval to the proposed move, raising optimism that an agreement could be reached in the coming days.
The 24-year-old missed Germany’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign through injury but remains one of the country’s most highly rated attacking players after establishing himself as a regular international in recent years.
He enjoyed an impressive season with Borussia Dortmund, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists while earning praise for his explosive pace, improved finishing and relentless pressing from the front.
Barcelona are believed to view Adeyemi as an ideal addition to strengthen the wide attacking areas after injuries to Raphinha and the inconsistent form of Marcus Rashford exposed the club’s lack of depth on the wings last season.
Reports also suggest Flick has played a key role in identifying Adeyemi as a priority target, with Barcelona reportedly conducting negotiations discreetly to avoid attracting widespread attention, similar to their approach in completing the Gordon transfer.
The potential arrival of Adeyemi has also fuelled fresh speculation over Raphinha’s future at the club.
The Brazilian’s name has been linked with a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia in recent weeks, and with his World Cup campaign now concluded, attention is expected to turn towards resolving his long-term future.
Should Raphinha depart, Adeyemi would provide Barcelona with a direct replacement capable of operating on either flank while adding pace and tactical intensity to Flick’s attacking options.
