Newcastle United have opened talks with Spanish club Osasuna over a potential move for winger Victor Munoz as they look to strengthen their attack following the departure of Anthony Gordon.
The Magpies are in the market for a replacement after Gordon completed a £69.3 million move to FC Barcelona, and Victor Munoz has emerged as one of the club’s leading targets.
While discussions between Newcastle United and CA Osasuna are ongoing, a deal has yet to be finalized. Munoz reportedly has a €40 million (£34.5 million) release clause in his contract.
The highly-rated winger, known for his pace and direct attacking style, has attracted attention across Europe and is viewed as a player capable of filling the void left by Gordon’s exit.
Newcastle are keen to move quickly in the transfer market, having already completed the signing of goalkeeper Ewen Jaouen from Stade de Reims for £18.5 million.
Speaking earlier about the club’s transfer strategy, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe emphasized the need for swift action.
“You will find the best players that are available on the market won’t hang around for too long,” Howe said.
“The speed at which the transfer market moves now is very quick. Teams are very efficient and we have to be there as one of those teams.”
Munoz, who previously spent time in the youth systems of both Real Madrid and Barcelona, is currently focused on international duty with Spain national football team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Spain begin their campaign against Cape Verde national football team in Atlanta on June 15, meaning any transfer developments may have to wait until after the tournament gets underway.
With Newcastle eager to reinforce their squad early in the window, Munoz’s situation is expected to be one of the key stories to watch in the coming weeks.
