Wigan Athletic have completed the signing of midfielder Max Power from fellow League One side Bradford City for an undisclosed fee.
The 32-year-old has signed a two-year contract, marking his third spell with the Latics after previously making 244 appearances and scoring 17 goals for the club.
Power first joined Wigan in July 2015 under then-manager Gary Caldwell and enjoyed immediate success, helping the club win the League One title in his debut season. Following relegation, he played a key role in guiding the team back to the Championship in 2018.
After a spell with Sunderland, Power returned to Wigan in 2021 and celebrated another promotion-winning campaign, securing his third League One title during his first season back at the club.
Last season, Power captained Bradford City as they reached the League One play-offs in their first year back in the division. However, their promotion hopes ended with a 2-0 aggregate defeat to eventual winners Bolton Wanderers.
Speaking after completing the move, Power expressed his delight at returning to familiar surroundings.
“Everyone has always known how big a part of my life this club is. Even when you leave, you never quite leave. It seems like a boomerang, everyone tends to come back,” he told the club’s official website.
Head coach Caldwell welcomed the midfielder’s return and praised his leadership qualities.
“Max is someone I signed 11 years ago as a young player with his career ahead of him,” Caldwell said.
“I still think he’s got chapters to write in his career, which is why we have brought him back home for the third time. I believe his standards, leadership qualities and playing qualities are going to be massive for the team next season.”
The move adds experience and leadership to Wigan’s squad as they prepare for another League One campaign, with Power expected to play a key role both on and off the pitch.
