Sinner Breaks Djokovic Record with Dominant Miami Open Display

Jannik Sinner made history at the Miami Open by surpassing Novak Djokovic’s long-standing record for most consecutive sets won at ATP Masters 1000 events.

The Italian world number two delivered a commanding performance, defeating Corentin Moutet 6-1, 6-4 in just 71 minutes, extending his streak to 26 consecutive sets at the Masters 1000 level breaking Djokovic’s previous mark of 24.

Sinner had already matched the Serbian’s record in his opening match against Damir Dzumhur, but went a step further with another clinical display in Miami.

“I am very happy. This sport is unpredictable, so we try to keep attention as much as we can, and we’ll see what is coming in the next round,” Sinner said after the match.

The four-time Grand Slam champion has been in exceptional form, having won his last two Masters 1000 titles at the Indian Wells Open earlier this month and in Paris last November without dropping a set.

Against Moutet, Sinner was in control from the outset, winning 19 of the first 26 points and wrapping up the opening set in just 22 minutes. He maintained his dominance in the second set, securing a decisive break before comfortably serving out the match.

Sinner will next face American Alex Michelsen in the last 16 as he continues his bid to complete the ‘Sunshine Double ’, winning both Indian Wells and the Miami Open, a feat last achieved by Roger Federer in 2017.
