Liverpool ended their wait for a Premier League home victory under Andoni Iraola with a convincing 2-0 win over Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield on Sunday, October 25.
The Reds struck twice in a decisive four-minute first-half spell to secure all three points and climb to fourth in the Premier League table.
Liverpool broke the deadlock in the 17th minute when Florian Wirtz’s effort deflected off Brighton midfielder Pascal Gross and into the net for an own goal.
Alexander Isak doubled the advantage just four minutes later, finishing Bradley Barcola’s delivery after the French winger won possession high up the pitch and drove into the box.
Brighton threatened to respond, with Yasin Ayari missing a promising opportunity before striking the post with a long-range effort. However, Liverpool defended resolutely to preserve their clean sheet.
The victory marked Liverpool’s fourth consecutive win in all competitions and dealt Brighton a significant setback after their impressive run of form.
Isak also continued his scoring streak, finding the net for the third consecutive Premier League appearance as Liverpool moved above Chelsea into fourth place.
The result offers further encouragement for Iraola’s side as they look to build momentum and establish themselves among the league’s leading contenders.
