MLB Postseason: Rays Sweep Yankees Amid Controversial Call as Brewers Eliminate Padres

The Tampa Bay Rays advanced to the American League Championship Series (ALCS) after defeating the New York Yankees 4–3 in Game 3 of their American League Division Series (ALDS), completing a 3–0 sweep in a dramatic encounter.

The Tampa Bay Rays advanced to the American League Championship Series (ALCS) after defeating the New York Yankees 4–3 in Game 3 of their American League Division Series (ALDS), completing a 3–0 sweep in a dramatic encounter.

The game was overshadowed by a controversial fan-interference decision involving Yankees shortstop Anthony Volpe. His apparent game-tying home run in the sixth inning was overturned following a video review, with umpires ruling that a spectator had interfered with the ball.

Volpe was awarded an RBI double instead, allowing the Yankees to cut the deficit to 4–3. However, New York could not complete the comeback as Tampa Bay held on for the victory.

Rays rookie Victor Mesa Jr. delivered a crucial two-run home run in the sixth inning to give Tampa Bay the lead, helping the team secure its place in the ALCS.

The defeat ended the Yankees’ postseason campaign, while the Rays moved one step closer to their first World Series title.

Meanwhile, the Milwaukee Brewers secured their place in the National League Championship Series (NLCS) after eliminating the San Diego Padres 3–1 in their best-of-five NLDS.

The Brewers’ series victory sent the Padres home and strengthened Milwaukee’s hopes of reaching the World Series.

With the division series reaching its decisive stage, the Rays and Brewers will now turn their attention to the championship series as the race for the MLB title intensifies.
