The Nigeria Football Federation, NFF, has warned referees officiating in the Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, against errors of judgment as the federation moves to sustain improved standards of officiating in the domestic league.
The warning was contained in a memo addressed to all NPFL clubs and signed by Mohammed Ameenu of the NFF Refereeing Development Committee.
The federation commended referees for their improved performances during the opening six weeks of the league but urged them to maintain concentration and accuracy in their decisions.
The NFF stressed the importance of consistent and credible officiating in ensuring the smooth running of the NPFL, warning match officials to avoid avoidable mistakes that could affect the outcome of matches.
The development comes as the league continues to gather momentum, with clubs battling for points and improved positions on the NPFL table.
The refereeing committee is expected to continue monitoring the performances of match officials throughout the season as part of efforts to improve the standard and credibility of the league.
