Could Bradley Barcola’s £120m Liverpool Move Spell the End for Cody Gakpo?

Liverpool are closing in on the signing of Paris Saint-Germain winger Bradley Barcola in a deal that could rise to £120 million, with negotiations reportedly reaching an advanced stage.

Sources indicate that talks have progressed significantly over the past 48 hours, with a full agreement now close for the 23-year-old France international.

PSG had initially valued Barcola at around £145 million, but Liverpool are reportedly set to agree a package worth at least £100 million, with a further £20 million available through performance-related bonuses linked to individual and team success.

Barcola, who is right-footed, generally operates from the left wing, and his potential arrival at Anfield could have major implications for Cody Gakpo.

The Netherlands international has attracted interest from both Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester City, according to reports, and Liverpool’s pursuit of Barcola could increase speculation over his future.

Liverpool are also looking to strengthen the opposite flank, having explored potential moves for Brighton’s Yankuba Minteh and Crystal Palace’s Ismaila Sarr as they seek greater depth in their attacking options.

Manager Andoni Iraola has remained tight-lipped about Liverpool’s transfer activity, insisting that the club cannot discuss players who have not yet officially joined the squad.

However, he acknowledged that Liverpool are actively trying to strengthen their attacking options.

“It is evident that we are trying to improve or try to fill that position because we don’t have the numbers,” Iraola said.

The potential arrival of Barcola would represent another major statement of intent from Liverpool as they look to build a squad capable of competing on multiple fronts.

Could Barcola’s arrival force Cody Gakpo out of Liverpool as Iraola reshapes his attack?
