Dutch giants Ajax are closing in on the signing of Super Eagles striker Tolu Arokodare from Wolverhampton Wanderers, according to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano.
Romano revealed that the two clubs have reached an agreement on a deal that will see the Nigerian forward join Ajax on an initial loan with an option to buy worth slightly more than €20 million.
“Ajax are closing in on a deal to sign Tolu Arokodare as a new striker from Wolves! Club-to-club agreement done on loan with buy option for package slightly over €20m,” Romano posted on X.
He added that Ajax identified Arokodare as their priority striker target and are now working to finalize the remaining details of the transfer.
The 25-year-old had also attracted interest from Serie A sides Fiorentina and Genoa, but Ajax have moved ahead in the race for his signature.
Arokodare joined Wolves from Belgian Pro League club KRC Genk last summer and made 33 Premier League appearances during his debut campaign, scoring three goals and providing one assist.
If completed, the move would offer the Nigerian international an opportunity to relaunch his career with one of Europe’s most successful clubs while strengthening Ajax’s attacking options ahead of the new season.
