Championship side Millwall have completed the signing of Belgian midfielder Mathis Servais from KV Mechelen on a long-term contract for an undisclosed fee.

The 21-year-old arrives at The Den after an impressive campaign in the Belgian Pro League, where he made 34 appearances, scored twice and helped Mechelen secure a fifth-place finish.

Servais, who has represented Belgium at youth level up to the Under-21s, is regarded as one of the country’s promising midfield talents and is expected to add energy and composure to Millwall’s midfield options.

Millwall director of football Steve Gallen welcomed the signing, describing Servais as a player with significant potential.

“He’s young, but plays with real maturity for his age. We see him as a central midfielder—athletic, strong and comfortable playing progressively,” Gallen said.

“Mathis has been on our radar for a year now, since his move to Mechelen in the Belgian top flight, and we’ve watched closely as he’s progressed there and with the Belgium Under-21s.

“As with any player arriving from abroad, we’ll need to be patient as he acclimatises to the team, country and culture, but the potential is exciting and we’re really pleased to have him on board.”

Before joining Mechelen, Servais spent two seasons with SK Beveren, where he scored 10 goals in 62 appearances, earning recognition as one of Belgium’s emerging midfield prospects.

Millwall will hope the arrival of Servais strengthens their squad as they prepare for the challenges of the new Championship campaign.
