Manchester United F.C. have intensified their search for midfield reinforcements, with Aurélien Tchouaméni and Alex Scott emerging as the club’s leading transfer targets.

United are reassessing their options after missing out on Mateus Fernandes, who completed an £85 million move to Tottenham Hotspur F.C. earlier this week.

The club’s midfield shortlist also includes Felix Nmecha of Borussia Dortmund, highly rated Lille youngster Ayyoub Bouaddi and Sander Berge of Fulham F.C..

Tchouaméni remains one of United’s preferred options, although negotiations are expected to be complicated by developments at Real Madrid C.F..

The Spanish giants recently ruled out any move for Enzo Fernández, while their long-standing admiration for Rodri appears unlikely to materialise as Manchester City F.C. remain determined to retain the midfielder and tie him to a new contract.

Reports in Spain suggest that if Real Madrid decide to reshape their midfield, they may be more willing to part ways with Eduardo Camavinga than Tchouaméni, making the latter a difficult target for United.

That uncertainty has increased the appeal of Bournemouth midfielder Alex Scott, who is also attracting serious interest from Arsenal F.C..

However, AFC Bournemouth are reluctant to lose one of their brightest young talents and are instead hoping to secure Scott on a new long-term contract.

United are also continuing to monitor Bouaddi, with club officials understood to have carried out further checks on the 18-year-old this week. The Lille midfielder has enhanced his growing reputation with a series of impressive displays at the FIFA World Cup and is preparing for Morocco’s Round of 16 clash against Canada.

With several high-profile names under consideration, Manchester United’s pursuit of a new midfield leader is expected to remain one of the club’s key priorities as the transfer window gathers momentum.
