Gillingham F.C. have strengthened their goalkeeping department with the signing of Ollie Wright on a season-long loan from Southampton F.C..
The 23-year-old goalkeeper arrives at Priestfield after an impressive campaign with Accrington Stanley F.C., where he kept 12 clean sheets in 47 League Two appearances during the 2025-26 season.
Wright has been part of Southampton’s academy system since joining the club in 2012, progressing through the age groups but still awaiting his senior debut for the Saints.
Before his successful spell at Accrington, the goalkeeper also gained valuable experience on loan at National League clubs Yeovil Town F.C. and Solihull Moors F.C.
Speaking after completing the move, Wright highlighted the qualities he believes he will bring to Gillingham’s defence.
“I’d like to say I am quite commanding, coming for crosses and taking the pressure off the back line,” he told the club’s official website.
The loan move offers Wright another opportunity to continue his development with regular first-team football, while Gillingham gain an experienced young goalkeeper with nearly 50 League Two appearances already under his belt.
